You have certain types of readers who swallow this garbage whole, you have writers who should know better (and who frequently include just enough wiggle room in their articles to claim that they never said the rock REALLY was a bone), and you have the owners of junk science websites who make money off of clicks.<br /><br />Most sinister, though, you have social leaders and politicians who get fame and fortune from fanning anti-government, anti-science, and anti-education flames, fueled in no small part by conspiracy nonsense.
